Electric generator design software*

Fig 1. Electric generator

Electric generators are devices which convert other types of energy into electricity. This may be hydro energy (hydrogenerators), wind energy (wind generator), energy of gas and coal (turbogenerator), smaller machines with diesel or gasoline engines, and variety of other types. Most widely used electric generator design utilizes the effect of electric currents and voltages generation in the conductors placed into the rotating magnetic field. Its construction resembles the electric motor, but they works reversely.

In most cases electric generator design requires electromagnetic design, thermal design and mechanical design considerations.

Therefore, electric generator design software should combine all these types of analysis, and is often based on the Finite Element method. QuickField is efficient electric generator design software and you may find more information and examples about this here.
